Aqualyx is an injectable fat loss treatment. It is derived from cholanic acid, which is released by our gall bladder to help break down fats. It is injected into areas of stubborn, localised fat.
It is licensed for use in areas including the chin, arms (bingo wings), stomach, lower back (love handles), knees, hips, thighs and under the buttocks.
Aqualyx is a non-surgical way of contouring parts of the body. When injected into areas of unwanted fat, it disrupts the surface of fat cells, causing them to weaken and become permeable, releasing stored fat.
This fat is then absorbed & excreted by the body. If a person doesn't gain any weight after treatment, the result is permanent.
Since its introduction in 2009, it has developed an excellent safety profile. It doesn't cause weight loss and is suitable for smaller, stubborn pockets of fat, not large area fat reduction.
The best results are seen in people who: have stubborn areas of fat they can't shift, are a healthy weight, lead an active lifestyle, and have a good diet.
