PROFHILO/SEVENTY HYAL

Hyaluronic acid is an important natural component of the skin, joints and other connective tissue. As we age, its production slows, and skin loses firmness due to collagen loss, and elasticity due to elastin loss.

Profhilo and Seventy Hyal are injectable skin boosters made of hyaluronic acid, the same substance fillers are made from. Unlike fillers they are thermally rather than chemically bonded, which means they absorb into the skin rather than staying in place. Think of them as extremely effective injectable moisturisers.

Skin boosters have two stages of action. Stage 1 is to boost hydration: they can can carry around 1000 times their weight in water. Stage 2 takes place over the next 4 weeks: they stimulate collagen and elastin production, remodelling the skin from the inside to give a fuller, fresher and more youthful glow, with improved wrinkles.

Skin boosters are extremely versatile. They are mostly used on the face, neck, arms, hands and knees, or any part of your body where the skin shows visible signs of ageing, except for the buttocks and genital areas.

They can be an excellent first treatment for those considering aesthetic treatments who wish to avoid fillers.

Two treatments four weeks apart are recommended for best results. For Seventy Hyal sometimes three treatments are recommended.

Profhilo is currently the most established and popular skin booster on the market, while Seventy Hyal is a newer product, which has a higher molecular weight, helping to moisturise better. Profhilo is recommended in the over 30s, whilst Seventy Hyal from 20 years and over. Seventy Hyal also has a more versatile injection profile in the face, meaning we can target more areas, in our experience getting a better result.
