DOWNTURNED CORNERS OF THE MOUTH

As we age the corners of the mouth can turn downwards, giving a sad or negative appearance.

This is typically due to the ageing process and the effects of gravity, although can occur in younger patients who have overactive muscles or are very expressive.

This motion is mainly controlled by the Depressor Anguli Oris (DAO) muscles, and administering wrinkle relaxing injections to them stops the DAO pulling down the mouth corners. This causes the corners to lift, giving a happier, more youthful and refreshed resting appearance.

Treatment. Two wrinkle relaxing injections are administered to your DAO muscles, one on each side of your face  just below and to the outside of the corners of your mouth.
