The “aesthetically perfect smile” shows all of the upper teeth and the small triangles of your gums that sit between your teeth. Some people show more gum than this, producing something termed a “gummy smile”.
This can be due to your anatomy, overactivity of the muscle that raises the top lip (Levator Labii Superioris), a thin top lip, or a combination of these factors.
A gummy smile can be simply and effectively corrected with Botulinum toxin injections on both sides of your nose next to your nostrils to reduce the activity of the muscle that elevates the upper lip. For those with a thinner top lip, lip augmentation works very well in combination, and we offer a package with both treatments.
You should notice an improvement within 2-3 days, with the upper lip slowly elevating less when you smile. The full result will be achieved 2-3 weeks after the treatment, when we will review your response. We may adjust your treatment plan if required. Treatment usually lasts 3-4 months.
